Scott Howell's NW Toppy, is a variation of the classic Toppy, originated by John Younger around 1837 for the Tweed River. Like music, flies that withstand the test of time have got to be good, and so with the Toppy. Scott has
substituted some modern materials for some of the original and a suirrel tail wing for a Turkey feather wing. The squirrel wing is a nice substitute and probably give's it better action. This fly also makes a nice Steelhead fly, but Scotty has also tied a NW variation for Steelhead. See GBS (variant) NW Toppy.
You can see more of Scott Howell's flies at The Flies of Scott Howell.
