| : This is a lighter pattern than previous versions used as a Dry Fly and sits on the water very nicely, Previous versions I had used twisted copper wire between 2 vices while building the long body, Now I simply have used very strong polypropylene thread which is used for sewing. Start by winding (Krystal Flash) "Smoult Blue" on the doubled up and twisted thread
Making the tail 1-1/8 inch in length using 1 strand of Krystal Flash at a time and making the end of the tail slightly bulbous. Cover with super glue then make markings with Permanent Black Ink Pen and then cover thinly with Epoxy Glue. Now you can remove from vices and cut thread proud at bulbous end but when cutting the other end leave at least 4/5 mm of thread this now is used to tie the tail section onto the hook shank with only a few turns and super glue. Ensure you leave room behind hook eye for head later.
The legs are made of 2 1/2 lb Monofilament Nylon (Knotted Knee Joints) and coloured Black as explained How to make them in My Epoxy Wasp Pattern three of these are fitted forward of where you tied the tail thread piece, still leaving room for the head.
Now taking (Krystal Flash) again start building up the Thorax Area using 1 strand at a time and super glue. Once you have completed the Thorax cover it with super glue then one dry
Cover the Thorax with Epoxy Glue and invert the pattern up-side-down so most of the Epoxy Glue will set as a larger lump as when this is dry you get a razor and slice this portion Flat for sitting the wings on later.
Making the head, Put a few turns of Black 8/0 tying thread making a Small head behind the hook eye. The eyes are Sugar Balls (Yes! Sugar balls as used in Cake Decoration) stick 2 of these of equal size onto the small head of thread and place a tiny drop of epoxy between the eyes for the moment, when dry colour the Sugar balls "RED" and a Black Line between the eyes and black dot on each eye. When that is complete cover the whole head and eyes are covered with more epoxy glue this makes them very strong and water tight.
The wings are made out of a Polythene Bag with Epoxy Glue smeared in the bag (which see) and compressed in a workshop vice sandwiched in between

On the wings. Cut out to shape and the tips of these are first super glued on the Flat portion you have sliced off the top of the thorax and then using a cocktail stick or needle apply Epoxy Glue on the thorax and also on top of the thorax ensuring some epoxy meets with securing the wings to the thorax area. The (Agrion splendens) has the characteristic blue marks on the wings I simply used Permanent Ink Pen and squeezed the ink on the wings with my fingertips so the marks where not to dark. The pattern is not really difficult to make.
