The tail is twisted Ultra Copper Wire placed between 2 vices (Taught) and then wound with (Krystal Flash-Smoult Blue) the Black markings can be Black thread or
Black Permanent Pen, then the whole tail is covered with Epoxy Glue and cut to length.
Next stage is building the Thorax by applying a small 3mm amount of black thread as an anchor for the Epoxy Glue inverting the hook so the thorax is higher on the hook shank.
The legs are made up with knotted 4lb Monofilament Nylon and Black permanent pen. The legs are bonded on the underside of the thorax with epoxy glue.
The thorax is covered on either side with (Pearl Shellback) which was punched out with a
Hole Punch Tool as used for making holes in leather belts etc. these were glued on first with super glue and then the whole thorax is covered with Epoxy Glue.
The Eye's are made of Sugar (Yes Sugar!) as used for Cake Decoration, these are coloured with Black Permanent Pen and stuck on initially with super glue and then covered with Epoxy with the point of a cocktail stick. These are very strong eyes and do not disintegrate when covered with epoxy.
The 4 wings are cock or hen feathers or you can use Pre-made Caddis Wings which are also very strong. Using a Hot Needle you can burn 4 small holes on top of the Thorax in which you place the tip of the feather in the hole with super glue, remember to get the angle of the hole for the feathers and the front feathers slightly larger than the rear feathers. When you have mounted the feathers use more Epoxy Glue on top of the thorax securing the feathers.
After completion the Pattern is very strong and can take a lot of abuse.
