This pattern was originated and tied by long time Salmonfly.net associate Leon Guthrie of Galashiels, Scotland. Leon has been prolific contributor to Salmonfly.Net for a several years. He is now retired and fishing in his native Scotland and is a regular at the site Game Angler Online where you will see many more of his flies. Leon writes that this fly, along with several other patterns that he sent, are productive salmon catchers in Scotland. I have no doubt that this leech-like pattern would be very effective, tied in
several colors, for our Pacific Salmon and Steelhead. I will post the remainder of the patterns he sent in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can see many more of Leon
Guthrie's originals at The Flies of Leon Guthrie.
