2005 Seattle Cannons 4th of July Tournament
Game #1: Friday, July 1, 8PM Bannerwood Park: NABA Reds 14 PSSBL Braves 1
The Reds of the NABA American Division used an 8-run 4th inning to break open a close game and cruised to a 14-1 win over the Braves of the PSSBL's Baker Division. Chris Songhurst had the big hit with a bases clearing 3-run double in that 4th inning rally to make the score 7-0. Fernando DeSilva followed Songhurst's hit with a two-run homer to left putting the game away for the Reds. The Reds used two pitchers over 7 innings allowing only 3 hits and one unearned run in the game.
Chris Songhurst was 3 for 4 and pitched two shutout innings in relief to get the game MVP.

Game #2: Saturday, July 2, 12PM Bellevue HS: Puget Sound Mariners 11 Rams 4
The Mariners opened defense of their tournament championship with their sixth straight tournament victory behind the solid pitching of starter and MVP Matt Sugarbaker.

Game #3: Saturday, July 2, 3PM Bellevue HS: Cannons 3 Reds 2
The Cannons and the Reds locked up in a great pitchers duel. Josh Deck and Ryan Patrick both pitched outstanding games in the first close game of the tournament. Deck pitched 5 innings to get the win and then turned the game over to the bullpen for the final two innings. Second baseman Tommy Orlinski started a key 4-2-3 double play to get the Cannons out of a jam in the 4th and keep the game at close at 1-0 Reds. Desinated hitter Jason Clark was 2 for 3 with a double, and RBI single and a run scored to get MVP honors. Scott Stockman got the save by getting out of a 1st and 3rd jam in the 7th with two strikeouts.

Game #4: Saturday, July 2, 3PM Wilburton Park: TriCities Monarchs 10 Braves 1
The Monarchs opened their tournament schedule with an impressive win over the Braves 10-1. Monarchs pitcher Aaron Kissman pitched a 3-hitter with 1 unearned allowed to get the game's MVP.

Game #5: Saturday, July 2, 6PM Bellevue HS: Seattle Cannons 8 Tacoma Rams 2
Sean Dickey pitched 4-shutout innings to get the win for the Cannons (2-0). Terry Porter and Carl Goodwin pitched the final three innings. The game MVP was Adam Guardipee with 3 hits and 3 RBI.

Game #6: Saturday, July 2, 6PM Sammamish HS: TriCities Monarchs 5 Puget Sound Mariners 0
TriCities handed the Puget Sound Mariners their first loss in the tournament. The Monarchs got a complete game shutout from game MVP Kevin Gross. TriCities has allowed only one unearned run in their first two games.


Homerun Contest: Sunday, July 3, 10AM Wilburton Park
Jason Rivers of the Braves edged out Aaron Boisjolie of the Cannons for the homerun contest title. Both players hit 3 homeruns but River won the tie break having hit his first homerun with just one out in the round.

Game #7: Sunday, July 3, 12PM Bellevue HS: Reds 8 TriCities Monarchs 5
Chris Boyd pitched a complete game to hand the Monarchs their first loss of the tournament and get the Reds to 2-1.

Game #8: Sunday, July 3, 3PM Wilburton Park: Tacoma Rams 5 Reds 2
The Tacoma Rams bounced back from losing their first two games of the tournament and knocked off the Reds 5-2 in extra innings. In the top of the 8th inning of a 2-2 ball game the Rams loaded the bases on an error, a walk and a perfect bunt single by Jesus Cruz. Two walks and a double play gave the Rams 3 runs in the inning and an 8-5 lead. Game MVP Jesus Cruz pitched all eight inning to get the win for the Rams.

Game #9: Sunday, July 3, 3PM Bellevue HS: Seattle Cannons 4 TriCities Monarchs 0
Cole Tullar pitched 6 innings and allowed only one hit to pick up the games MVP has the Cannons improved to 3-0.

Game #10: Sunday, July 3, 3PM Sammamish HS: Puget Sound Mariners 7 Braves 1
Matt Sugarbaker made his second start in two days and got his second win of the tournament for the Mariners. Catcher Mark Rindy went 2 for 3 to pick up MVP for the game as the Mariners improved to 2-1.

Game #11: Sunday, July 3, 6PM Wilburton Park: Tacoma Rams 7 Braves 6
The Tacoma Rams scored 2 runs in their final at bat to steal away a victory. The Rams got a leadoff walk, and then a single to right to put runner at first and second. David Orosco then laid down a great sac bunt to put the two runner in scoring position. Following an intentional walk to the Rams 4th place hitter, who had homered in the first inning, to load the bases the Rams scored 2 runs on an error with the infield drawn in to win the ball game 7-6. With their second win of the afternoon the Rams kept alive their hope of reaching the championship game.

Game #12: Sunday, July 3, 6PM Sammamish HS: Puget Sound Mariners 7 Cannons 2
The Puget Sound Mariners took back control of first place by beating the only undefeated team remaining, the Cannons 7-2. The Mariners jump on the Cannons early for 7 runs and then held on for a 7-2 win that puts them at 3-1 in the tournament.
