What seemed impossible at three o clock became a wonderful reality at five. Killie beating the hunz at Ibrox means that a Celtic victory tommorrow will seal the championship. Killie didn't really deserve all three points but who cares, they were great value for the draw they should have got if it hadn't been for every Celtic fan's favourite MIB Booby Tait. Gruppenfuhrer Tait who provided Hearts with nearly five minutes of injury time to get their equaliser against us when there were no major stoppages received what I beleive tobe poetic justice. Tait had requested this game, openly recognised by all in the Scottish game as a diehard hun. Once again Tait was magically manufacturing injury time. Once again in a half with no serious stopages play continued into the 94th minute. Unfortunatly for all those on the dark side Tait's desperate efforts were to backfire with Killie's Mark Roberts stealing a goal in injury time that should never have existed. The joy of such justice, not only did the hun get stuffed but the defeat was engineered by one of their own ! Celtic can now travel to East End Park with the luxury of being able to seal the championship without having to gain anything from a rather tricky final game at home to St Johnstone. Although I don't expect Dunfermeline to lie down, I don't see how their motivation will be able to match that of a team on the brink of winning the title for the first time in a decade. Come on the Cel'ic !!! The mutterings leaking out of Parkhead are not the best. First some good news is that we can expect the Celtic defence to remain unchanged barring any last minute training injuries. As Marc Reiper has said this week at least Hibs never looked like winning the game which gave the bhoys up front every opportunity to do their job. It is however the midfield where the worries lay, seems like Jackie may not be fit enough to go the full 90 minutes, the same may apply to Craig Burley, however Phil O'Donnell's good form recently is encouraging and he is likely to figure in Sundays game at some point. Larsson and Brattbakk would be my starting frontline, with POD, Donnelly and Jackson on the bench. . Good news from the darkside is that Thern is out for the rest of the season. A month ago such news would hardly have caused a blink in either camp but recently Thern has proven invaluable to the hun alongside Herr Albertz. The latest news from England is that Forest have slammed a 10 million pound price tag on Van Hooydonk. Surely even Fergus can now see that selling Pierre was the biggest mistake since he arrived at Parkhead, especially when reflecting upon Tommy Johnson's contribution as his replacement. Again I would have to urge the powers that be not to repeat this mistake, getting Morten Weighorst signing on the dotted line would be a good start in this respect. We can expect to have a good old chuckle over the summer as the vermine try and coax players to their sewer. I have heard they may consider signing Scott Booth or Archil Arveladze(a Georgian playing for Pierre's old club NAC Breda). However rumours that Murray is trying to organise a 20 million pound bid for Del Piero should be thrown in the same bin as the Ronaldo stories of last year (Lets face it he has to do something at this time of year to sell season tickets !). The news from Parkhead is that should Jansen stay, (I will not even try to predict that one !) there will be few, if any, big signings Wim preferring to work with the players he has. It is hard to imagine that this would still be the case were we to win the league with a tricky qualifier to overcome to enter the Champions League. Obvious needs are another striker and if necessary a replacement for Weighorst should he leave. Finally the handbags really are out over the huns defeat to Aberdeen. Clearly the cloven hooved are trying to draw attention away from Hearts dismal performance last weekend by winging about Aberdeen trying too hard the week before. Sorry guys you may have allies but Aberdeen aren't one of them and thankfully for us neither are Kilmarnock !!! |
