This week it was the turn of Jonothan Gould to sign a new contract, just a week after no 2 keeper Stewart Kerr. Gould has signed a four year contract, he said of the deal "I have had the greatest success of my career at Celtic. Winning the league this year was a magnificent experience and made me determined to bring further success here. It is a great club and my family and I love being in Scotland, hence I am delighted to pledge what I hope will be the best years of my career to Celtic." It appears now very likely that Celtic will sign Swedish international Johan Mjallby from AIK Stockholm. It is expected that Celtic will need to pay £1.5 million for the versatile Swede who can play both in midfield or the centre of defence. Celtic have been desperately inadequate in defence with Alan Stubbs and Marc Reiper currently injured. Mjallby who scored the goal for Sweden in their 1-0 win over England would be another fine signing for Celtic, it is encouraging to see Celtic carefully selecting quality players in stark contrats to the panic spending of Rangers over the past five years. It is unfortunate the signings could not have been made before our exit from the Champions League, however the future is beginning to look significantly brighter. Finally a farcical offer for Super Swede Henrik Larsson has been made by Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls have offered ex-celt and super-trouble maker Paolo Di Canio in exchange for Larsson. Celtic politely but swiftly declined Wednesday's offer.
