My Top Ten Bhoys
No 10
Tommy Gemmill
Tommy Gemmill was an exceptional full back, one of the 'Lisbon Lions', in fact he had his name on the scoresheet that day. Played over 400 times for the mighty 'tic before moving to Notts Forest in 1971. |
No 9
Lou Macari
Lou Macari was my childhood idol, a man who unfortunately is remembered by many for being the last manager under the Kellys and the controversy surrounding his dismissal by Fergus McCann. Lou is best remembered for being one of the 'Quality Street Gang' a group of exiting young players that emerged in the early 70's under the wing of Jock Stein. Macari was an exiting midfielder who like Kenny Dalglish may have been higher up this list had he reached his peak at Celtic Park

no 8 Paul McStay
Paul McStay was a true Celtic man in desperate times for the club. In the dismal days of nine in a row, Paul often brought sunshine to Saturday afternoons with his exceptional touch and vision. It is a tragedy that injury robbed Paul of captaining Celtic to championship glory however he is likely to remain an influential figure at the club for some time to come.

Charlie Nicholas
"Super Charlie" had two spells at Parkhead, firstly as a huge young talent and then a further spell in his twilight years.
No 6
Bobby Lennox
If Celtic had Bobby Lennox playing for them last season, the title would have been far easier than it was. Last season Celtic struggled to score, Lennox was one of Celtic's most prolific scorers. A Lisbon Lion Bobby will probably be best remembered for making Scotland the unofficial chapions of the world by scoring the winning goal at Wembley in 1967.

Henrik Larsson
Henrik Larsson is simply the best player I have witnessed first hand at Celtic Park. When Larsson plays well Celtic play well, I beleive Henrik is the best player ever to come to Scotland.

No 4
Danny McGrain
Danny McGrain epitomised everything that is good about Celtic. Overlooked by Rangers as their scout wrongly beleived he was a catholic, McGrain became a Celtic legend a perfect illustration of Celtic non-bigotry. Danny McGrain was a fighter, he struggled against illness and injury however he established himself as a great success on both club and international stages.

No 3
Jimmy Johnstone
Jimmy 'Jinky' Johnstone played in all of Celtic's 'nine in a row' seasons. Jimmy Johnstone is probably alongside Billy McNeill the most famous of the Lisbon Lions, he had incredible skill and speed and was in his era one of the best players in the world.
No 2
Kenny Dalglish
King Kenny might be many fan's no one choice, however I have always beleived that he hit his very best in his Anfield days. In his early years with Liverpool he was probably the hottest property in Europe if not the world. Dalglish was an awesome talent, however he was not a 'Lisbon Lion' and thus could not have been my no 1.
No 1
Billy McNeill
Billy McNeill would I imagine top most 'Top Tens', Jock Stein aside McNeill has to have been the Celt's greatest leader, captaining the European Cup winning side of 1967
