I had much reservations about reading The Secret Circle. It was the middle of 8th grade, the ‘92-’93 area, and I was basking in the afterglow of the Vampire Diaries…you know what I mean. The back cover of The Initiation made them seem like books about the dangers of cult life in modern America. What I wanted was more supernatural stuff. More "Power". Well, let’s just say I got way more than I bargained for. I was also pleasently surprised by the Secret Circle…to say the least.
For all you LJ readers who haven’t had the opportunity to read this amazing trilogy (I know there are a lot of you out there!), I would highly suggest you get your butt in gear! And head out to the book store! Rumours are flying that they may be reprinted like all the rest of her oldies have been. These three are just beyond excellent! Click the links if you want to learn more about them. Just warning you, there may be a few spoilers in my commentaries :-)
This trilogy also gets my highest L.J. rating, along with the Vampire Diaries. They are completely on par with one another. Characterization is amazing and the story line is incredible. Most importantly, these books have been the single most influence upon my life to date.
