A Bird in the Hand
This little guy, a Northern Flicker, bailed out of his nest early.
We climbed up and tucked him back into his nest in a hollowed out tree
but the next morning he was on the ground again. Unable to fly and ignored
by mom and dad, we feared he would succumb to one of the many cats living
next door. We attempted to feed him but even with all his squawking he
wouldn't eat. We were very lucky to find a wonderful Vet who took this
little guy in and raised him until he was able to fend for himself.
