PRINCIPLES

I so often wonder why it is
That some must die so others may live.
And, who decides which side they're on?
Or, who remembers, once they're gone?

Someone decides that a cause is just;
To defend a "value" is a must.
They send their ships out in fleets,
And vow to fight, without retreat!

Would they go, or send their son?
Go, themselves, to face the gun?
Would their causes still be so right,
If they were the ones who had to fight?
