Dedication

Anything loved and meaningful and creative, no matter whose creation it is, should be kept close to the heart, to be read again and again, to remind us of what is true and pure and important. We carry a creed of poetry, a constitution of quotations, and a mantra of prose that somehow explains perfectly that elusive emotion or moral we struggle daily to understand. They anchor us when we are afraid to fly too far, and give us courage in facing that which we most fear. It helps us, in the end, to be saviour to ourselves.
