Miaka
Yuuki Miaka, a regular student at Torisan Junior high, visited the National library with her best friend, Hongo Yui. She saw an apparition of a large red bird and followed it to a room called the "Special Documents Reference Room." Her friend followed. They found a book called "The four gods sky and earth" (shin jen ten chi sho, also translated as "The universe of the four gods"). When they opened the book, they were both transported to the world within it, which much resembled ancient China. After both were saved from slavers by a strange man, Yui was sent back to the real world. Miaka remained, and went to the town nearby and found the man who saved them. This was Tamahome. They both eventually arrived at the emporer of that country (Konan's) palace, where it was discovered that Miaka is Suzaku no Miko. Suzaku was one of four gods of that world, and was the one who governed Konan country. A Miko is a preistess, a girl who acts as a medium between the gods and humans. Miaka was the Miko of Suzaku, from another world, called when the country was in a time of need. To summon the god, a miko must find her 7 seishi (constellations). The 7 seishi of Suzaku being Tamahome, Hotohori, Nuriko, Chichiri, Tasuki, Mitsukake, and Chiriko. When the Miko has found all 7 seishi, she can call her god and recieve 3 wishes. Miaka is generally described as having a sunny disposition. She smiles a lot, and jokes as well. If the mood of a situation is becoming too serious or too boring, she'll crack a pun or something like that. She also enjoys eating, quite a bit, and will do so at almost any opportunity. She isn't the best student, in general. She sometimes misses the proper meaning of some words, falls asleep in class, and she gets confused easily. Although, before she is taken into the book, she becomes very serious about her studies, with the hopes to enter the presigious Jonan academy with her best friend Yui. While she is generally light and frivolous, when the situation calls for it she can become serious as well, naturally. She cares about her seishi, and generally cares about everyone, even her enemies. Her main fixation is Tamahome, one of her seishi. She falls in love with him, and after a time Tamahome realizes that he is in love with her as well. Their love is proven time and time again, much to our satisfaction. Some people dislike her relationship with Tamahome, because they believe that the romance is unrealistic, and too perfect. |
Miaka and Yui
Yui is Miaka's bestfriend ever since they were little kids. Yui is really smart. When the two of them end up is the Universe of Four Gods the get split up. What follows are a series of bad events for Yui. Yui soon gets extremely pissed at Miaka. The war between Konan and Seiryuu turns into the war of Yui and Miaka. Yui hates Miaka, but Miaka still wants Yui and her to be bestfriends once again. So to get Yui back, Miaka is determined to find all seven of the Sukaku seishi so she can wish her and Yui's friendship back. This pics to the side is when they are actually friends instead of enimies. Isn't it pretty?

Suzaku no Miko
Sukaku no Miko means Priestess of Suzaku. In the japanese language they read the oppisite direction than Americans do. That's why "Miko" which means Preistess is in the back. The word "no" means a lot of things but one of the meanings is "of". And of course Suzaku is that protector of Konan. Miaka is determined to Find all seven seishi so she can get Yui back to being her bestfriend. Later other things also come into play and they make her search even harder. |
