Puget Sounders provide for a festive western celebration

ENUMCLAW, Wash. - During a festive yuletide mood for the members of Lodge 738, 15 Santa-loving youngsters cajoled the old gentlemanly elf into listening to their individual desires and wants to be dropped beneath each household Christmas tree.

Parents and grandparents received the added gift of hearing their little ones conversing sincerely with St. Nick. Wasn't that a pleasurable scene to lock into one's memory banks? You bet!

To assure each child that Santa would be visiting on Christmas Eve, he presented a large bag of goodies to each as an enticement of things to come.

In attendance for our annual party were 100 Lodge members and guests, and from this group came a delicious potluck buffet. Everyone fully partook of the many native Slovenian dishes, casseroles, potica and strudel.

Throughout the entire afternoon and early evening our own Puget Sound Button Box Group provided entertainment, playing polkas, waltzes and schottisches until it was time for the doors to close. Everyone vows to plan as enthusiastically for next year's party.

Election of Lodge 738 officers resulted in the following:

  • President . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Ruth Lunka
  • Vice President . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Fran Potocnik
  • Secretary/Treasurer . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Annette Johnson
  • Recording Secretary. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Dorothy Sleigh
  • Sergeant-at-Arms. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Frank Lunka
  • Auditors. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Sylvia Manowski, Tony Mylner, Larry Petrowski
  • This is a great group of individuals, and they will most assuredly lead us toward a rewarding fraternal year.

Our next regular Lodge meeting will be held on Feb. 9 at the Auburn VFW Hall; a potluck luncheon is planned. Bring your dancing shoes, bring your instruments and bring your happy, smilin' mood. Guests are always welcome!
