My Kentucky Rifle and Gear

These are some pictures of my .45 caliber Kentucky rifle. The stock is curly maple, relief carved and with silver inlays. The barrel is 41" long, octagonal, and browned. The ignition system is a Siler flintlock, tripped with double-set triggers. Buttplate, thimbles, triggerguard, and nosecap are of brass.

Flintlock Kentucky Rifle and Hunting Bag

This is the lock/patchbox side of my rifle. I made everything except the powder horn, but I did the scrimshaw on the horn.

Another View

This is the cheekpiece side of the rifle, showing the carving and silver inlays. The patchknife was ground from a small file, and handled with a piece of deer antler. The sheath is sewn into the shoulder strap on the hunting bag. Inside the bag are patches, balls, extra flints, ball starter, and a hand-forged screwdriver.
