Haunted Junction
"Asahina Meets her Match"

Haruto saw the flyers pinned all over the hallways and became overjoyed. "A school dance! At last, a normal activity for a normal high school boy!" he cried tearfully, waving it excessively in the air, "This is what I have been waiting for all my life!!!"

"Hey Kaichou!" Kazumi said, not taking notice to why his friend was having a fuss. He blinked at the the flyer which Haruto shoved in his face. "What's this?"

"We're having a dance! A dance!!! I can't believe the Dejichou would consider something so so so NORMAL!!"

Kazumi turned to a face of glee. "I'm gonna ask Hanako-san to go with me!!!"

At this Haruto stopped all his celebrating. For this wasn't going to be a NORMAL dance. There was nothing normal about Saitou High School. The place had been overrun by ghosts and every since school event was strange and weird and unusual and tramatizing and unspeakable...

Haruto's eyes filled with bitter tears. The worst part of it was that he, against his will, was forced to come here; and that he, against his will, was forced into the position of "Kaichou" of the Holy student council. Lastly, he, against his will, was unable to live a normal high school life.

"But what is normal?" Kazumi asked, "I think when I meet people who don't go here, they have strange hobbies; like that one guy who collects stamps or wears those giant raccoon outfits for fun."

Haruto thought about it. His father wore those outfits for fun and he used to collect stamps. Shaking his head he protested, "But it's not neccessary to have spirits in order to have school spirit!!

At that moment the two of them stopped. They spotted their redheaded friend, Asahina up ahead. She was also part of the student council, being the daughter of a shinto priestess. Kazumi was the son of a Buddhist priest so that made him the third member. Of course, Asahina was pretty strange herself, Haruto noted, after all she has a certain "shouta complex".

(Shouta complex: obsession of boy under the age of 12. a variation of the famous "Lolita complex")

At any rate, the boys followed her down the hall and saw that she was snooping around outside the boy's bathroom. "What?? What is she doing??" Kazumi uttered, "She doesn't like...you know...guys our age!!"

"I don't know." Haruto noted, "Maybe she's lost her way or something. Or maybe she chased Nino-kun into there and is waiting for him to come out."

Nino was the spirit of Ninomiya Sontoku Statues that lived at the school and met Asahina's requirements for the ideal guy. Intelligent, servile, kind... under 12 years old. Then again, if she had trapped him in the restroom, she would have already barged in there by now; regardless it being a 'boys bathroom'.

"Something is odd." Kazumi noted, "Asahina... she looks like she's nervous or something." Asahina had the nerves of an iron board, seldomn fazed. Her fiery spirit matched that of her fiery hair. Both Kazumi and Haruto were puzzled.

Just then, the door swung open. A handsome looking fellow walked out and past the blushing Asahina. "What the?" Haruto uttered, "Was that just what I thought just happened??"

Kazumi noted, "Let's see..." They walked up to their friend who was in a dreamy state. "No way. She's only suppose to like guys under 12!!"

Haruto waved his hand over her eyes. It was no use. "Asahina-kun! Wake up!!" he called.

At that, a hand came flying across his face. Oh yeah, Asahina had a bit of a violent streak. Anyway, Haruto went flying into the lockers. Kazumi ducked and covered his head, fearful of being the next victim. But why had she attacked them for no reason?

"Is something wrong, Mutsuki-senpai?" Kazumi uttered, shaking with fright, "I mean... did that guy piss you off or something?"

"No...no at all...Kakeru-senpai..."

"Eh??" the boys were confused by her abnormal stammering and blushing face.

Asahina laughed, "Oh silly boys... Kakeru-senpai is my newest target! I am going to go with him to the dance, that is as soon as I ask him!"

"But!!!" Haruto was aghast. "He's over 12 years old!!! Isn't that against your beliefs??? Asahina-kun???" Could it be, he thought, she's finally become normal?

She grabbed them by the collars. "You don't think I'll succeed do you?? Do you actually think that Kakeru-senpai could resist such a cute girl like me??? Hm???"

"We didn't say that!" Haruto whined, "You're choking me!!"

Kazumi laughed, "Mutsuki-senpai, there's something you need to know about this guy..."

"What?" she asked, looking suspicious. He just laughed some more. She threw them aside. "Aw, I don't care! I'm going to ask him now! Byiiie!!"

Haruto rubbed his head. "Kazumi-kun, what is this all about?"

Kazumi replied, "Come on, you'll see for yourself."

They followed Asahina down the hall. She was stopped dead in her tracks, staring in shock. Kakeru was talking with the girl in the mirror.

Kakeru said, "Will you go with me to the dance, lovely creature?"

The girl in the mirror giggled. "Okay, Oniichan!"

Asahina's face fell. "EH?!"

Kazumi laughed extra hard. "See? Kakeru-kun has a 'lolita complex'! There's no way he'll go for an old hag such as yourself! Ahahahaha!!!"

Haruto approached the teary-eyed Asahina. "Ne, Asahina-kun...you like, I'll take you to the dance." he said, putting his hand on her shoulder.

She shoke him off and gave him a energized face. "No thanks, Kaichou! I'm taking Nino-kun!"

Haruto's face fell. It figured that she would go back to her shouta complex ways. Sighing, he wondered if anything would EVER be normal. No, probably not.

"OH MY GOD!!!!"
