Natural Beauty
of the
Tibetan Grasslands
All shots taken just outside of Machu
The sun, just peaking above the horizon rakes the hills with low angle light. |
I shot this photo of a curve in the upper reaches of the Huang Ho (Yellow River), took some other shots, then a few minutes later, with the sun lighting the scene I somehow ended up with almost identical composition. In the evening, in the shots below, I ended up on the other side of the river.
While eating dinner I suddenly realized that though the sun had gone down, there were some great landscapes shots there for the taking. Without stopping to explain to my dinner companions (which would have required something similar to a game of charades) I grabbed my camera bag, and neglecting my sandals tore off across the grasslands, into a ravine, out the other side and onto a bluff where I could shoot the surrounding landscape. |
An old boat just downstream of the only bridge over the river for at least fifty miles in each direction. China hasn't spent a large amount of money on infrastructure in these poor areas with few Han Chinese and lots of minorities. |
The land was almost totally dark and it took me a little while to pick my way back (barefoot) to our dinner spot after taking this shot. |
