Volume XII , Number I

~The Day of the report is the 18th of February
of the Day of the Lord of Two Thousand and Two~

Free Trappers:

Wah! Year number 12 for the Che~lo~han Free Trappers! 'n were better 'n ever! We've had two meetings 'n two shoots since Two-mile slid the last dispatch. It don't seem like I'm gettin' any speedier as I mature, 'n thet's kind of discouragein' cuz my Mamma always said I uz a reel slow yournin.
Well, we had a meetin' Jan. 7 at the Palace. Those who came were: Terry, Ralph & Kathy, Lynn, Wayne, John & Deanie, Don & Marlene, Ken, Lonnie, Howard, Mike Roberts, Alfredo, & myself. Terry conducted the meeting in our President's absense. It war a good meetin'.

We set up our calendar for this year. You may already have a COPY If not, Marlene will get you one. Eric agreed to do the January shoot. Then we decided to do something different for February. Since we didn't get anyone to come forward to run the February shoot, we decided each shooter present would be responsible for one event of not more than three shots or twenty minutes duration. We will do the same thing for the June shoot.
In the financial departament we have $385.42 in checking, plus we colected $20.00 in dues at the meetin', Terry did a powerful job conductin' business. He war awesome!< p> Eric's shoot January 12 at Elk Creek camp, this is shoot No. 1 of our 4 month aggregate. Those who came were: Alfredo, Terry, Oracle, John, Cathy, Aaron, Brendan, Gary (Cathy's brother) Jeoff (Gary's son), Eric, & myself. It was a very good shoot! Eric had a combination of events: rifle, pistol, hawk, knife, & lance

We had a good time, exeptin' maybe those people shootin' some of them new fangdanled rifles with caplocks. It seem they ain't too reliable. Or maybe it war jist' the severe winter weather. It must git awful expensive shootin' 10 or 12 of them leetle caps ta' git yer rifle to go off jist once.

Ron's tipi was thar, and we all enjoyed it's warmth and comfort. Thank you Eric!

We had a meeting February 4 at the Bar 14 Restaurant. Those who came were: Ron, Cindy, Karissa & Charlie, Terry, John & Cathy, Howard, Wayne, Lynn, Ken, Lonnie, John Poulson, Don & Marlene, Bill Course, who joined the Che~lo~han Freetrappers at the meeting. Bill is from Wenatchee and a friend of John Pidgeon, Louise, Emily, Sarah & miself.
Before Ron called the meetin' to order, I talked with Marlene in my sweetist' most convincing manner, and she agreed to assume some of the secretarial duties.
You will find in this dispatch MINUTES of our meeting presented by Marlene, it was a good meeting.

We had a shoot Feb. 9 at the Elk Creek encampment, this was shoot No. 2 in the 4 shoot aggregate for the months Jan.-April.
Those who came were: Don & Marlene, John & Cathy, Aaron, Alfredo, Wayne, Lynn, Terry, Oracle, & myself. Bill Course came to the shoot to get some idea of how we do things.
This was the first shoot of its kind for us. Each shooter was responsible for one match of 1-3 shots, or an event of not more than 20 minutes duration.
Since there were 11 shooters we had 11 different people's ideas. We shot some paper, some metal gongs, some beaver tails, some playing cards, some of the shoots involved a bit of "chance" and a bit of skill. It was one of the most fun shoots any of us could ever remember. We should discuss it at our next meeting. We have another shoot like this planned for June 8th. You won't want to miss it. It was a great day on Elk Creek!

We have a meeting scheduled for March 4 at the Bar 14 again. Some people weren't too happy about leaving the Palace, but it was decided to stay with the Bar 14 one more time.
The gun/trade show is March 9-10 at ENUMCLAW.
John Pidgeon is doing our next club shoot on March 16th. at Elk Creek, this will be shoot No. 3 of 4 of the aggregate. Time flies when yer havin' fun.
Thank you Marlene for your willingness to help with all of this! Not only is much, much easier for me, but it is much better for the Che~lo~han Freetrappers.

Respectfully........

TwoMile.
