In order to prepare the way, the message proposed the sending an exploring party to trace the Missouri to its source, to cross the Highlands, and follow the best water-communication which offered itself fronthence to the Pacific Ocean.
Congress approved the proposition, and voted a sum of money ($2500) for carrying it into execution"
From a letter which former President Thomas Jefferson wrote August 18th, 1813. This letter is part of the memoir of Meriwether Lewis. The incredible journey to the Pacific actually began May 14, 1804.
It would seem that a study of the Lewis and Clark Expedition would be very appropriate for us during the next few years - say beginning now and ending in the latter part of September 2006.
September 23rd, descended to the Mississippi, and round to St. Louis, where we arrived at twelve o'clock; and received the heartiest and most hospitable welcome from the whole village."
We had a very good shoot to start the thirteenth year of our association. Those who came were: John, Cathy, Aaron, Brendon, Terry Fraker and grandson, Justin Curtis, Lynn, Wayne, Mike Roberts, Jin Linton, Mark & Myself.
We did three shooting events and a Hawk throw. A couple of Ralph's trade guns produced pretty good targets inspite of the novices operating them! Probably the best part of the day was when Mark warmed up the buei ??(illegibe) Kathy had made for us. Thank you Kathy! This all happened at Elk Creek on January 11th, 2003.
It was a very good day - the first of our Winter aggregate.

-- Don brought up an idea for a way for the Club to make some money each month. It's called a 50/50 raffle. We sell raffle tickets to the people present at the meetings for $1/ticket or $5 for 7 tickets.
At the end of the meeting we draw out the winning ticket and that person gets 50% of what was taken in that night and the Club keeps the other 50%. Don made a motion that we begin doing this. John seconded, we voted and the motion carried.
