The stretch of beach between Cape Alava and Sand Point is famous for its petroglyphs. I had been to see them before so I could find all but one (a ship...which is the one I really wanted to get a shot of) There are two very famous 'glyphs on the beach. One of these is Wedding Rock

Wedding Rock

This picture shows the marriage of one of the chiefs. Unfortunatly weathering has taken its toll on the carving and half has fallen off. The symbols above the couple (they sorta look like lemons with a line drawn down the center) represent fertility.

Wedding Rock a little closer

Aside from Wedding rock, there are many other petroglyphs on this beach. I have pictures of many of them, but due to weathering, and turning of the stones, many cannot be found anymore. If you would like to see all my 'glyph pictures just e-mail me for a copy.

Profile

This guy is one of my favorite glyphs just because it is very easy to find, and hey, this guy just looks cool. Next (Page 9)
