Star was such a big part of my life........all through her life. She was my constant companion.......everywhere I traveled she went with me. It was easy to take her along because she was the kind of aussie that would protect me if need be and I
wanted her there. I can't imagine how many miles she traveled in the car with me
going to shows and visiting friends and family through the years. I tried to change some traits that I didn't especially like about her but I couldn't change her. I accepted her faults and learned to live with them because I loved her so much. She never had babies but took on Flower's babies as her own, licking their ears and faces, teaching them who was boss by putting one paw on them, holding them down to clean their faces. If I was to keep a puppy, Star would choose the one with the kind of personality that I liked and one she could boss around without a fight. Star had to like the puppy. Some puppies she clearly did not like, I think because they were dominant and would eventually cause trouble so I would not keep those. I really miss Star. She's not laying at my feet anymore in the evening, or is she? She isn't staying in my room at night sleeping beside my bed, or is she not there? She isn't riding in the car with me when I do errands, but I feel presence. I call her name when I'm doing my chores outside or in the barn...................she must be there...........somewhere close beside me.
I made a shadow box in memory of Star with her pretty picture and a little name plate that Dayna gave me many years ago. I also put trimmings of Star's hair tied carefully together with a pretty pink bow by Cindy at the Parkway Clinic. There are also a pair of star earrings that Diane gave me to wear when I showed Star that brought us luck. All the hugs and tears that fell that dread day are also tucked carefully inside the shadow box. All the love and memories of 11 1/2 years all tucked inside the shadow box that will sit on my shelf by my computer..................
