Phase 1 of Kitsap Mall opened in 1985 with The Bon, Sears, and Lamonts as the three main anchors. Phase 2 opened a few years later with Mervyn's at the north end of the mall. JC Penney eventually added a store along this newer portion of the mall. The Sears and JC Penney at Kitsap Mall replaced older stores in downtown Bremerton. Lamonts has since become Gottshalks.
