SR 16 starts at Jct I-5 Exit 132 in Tacoma, crosses Puget Sound (yes, The Narrows is part of Puget Sound) on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, and ends at Jct SR 3 in Gorst. One could argue that SR 16 should have an odd number rathern than an even number since it is more N-S than E-W. SR 410 between the Tacoma and Yakima areas is implicitly part of SR 16 since 160 series numbered SRs branch off from SR 410. Also, the mileposts are backward on SR 16. They progress from E to W rather than W to E. SR 16 is 27.01 miles long
Before 1964, SR 16 was PSH 14.
