SR 116 was added to the state highway system effective April 1, 1992. This SR starts at Jct SR 19 near Irondale and heads east to Indian and Marrowstone Islands. On Marrowstone, SR 116 turns and heads north via Nordland to Fort Flagler State Park. One could claim that SR 116 should be numbered SR 190 since SR 116 branches off of SR 19 and not US 101. SR 116 is 9.83 miles long.
