State Route 126 began at Jct US 12 between Dayton and Delaney and headed east via Turner and Marengo to rejoin and end at US 12 near Zumwalt, a few miles west of Pomeroy. Much of SR 126 was unpaved, narrow, winding, and with steep grades. SR 126 was dropped from the state highway system effective April 1, 1992.
Before 1964, SR 126 had been SSH 3L.
