When first posted as such in January 1964, SR 514 started at Jct I-5 Exit 137 in Fife and headed north on 54th Ave E to Pacific Hwy E, then east on Pacific Hwy E to Porter Way, then east via Milton to Jct SR 161 east of Milton, where SR 514 ended. Pacific Hwy had been part of US 99 before 1962 and was posted as Business Loop 5 during the 1960s. US 99 had moved to the I-5 freeway when the Fife to Midway section of I-5 opened in October 1962. In 1969, US 99 was dropped from the US highway system in Washington State. 54th Ave E and Pacific Hwy E from 54th Ave E to the King County Line became SR 99. The intersection of Pacific Hwy E/SR 99 and Porter Way became the western terminus of SR 514. Effective April 1, 1992, SR 514 was dropped from the state highway system.
Before 1964, SR 514 had been SSH 1X.
