SR 971 was added to the state highway system effective April 1, 1992. This highway starts at Jct Alt US 97 between Entiat and Chelan and heads north via Navarone Canyon Rd to the south shore of Lake Chelan near Lake Chelan State Park. From the park, SR 971 heads east and ends at Jct Alt US 97 a few miles west of Chelan. SR 971 is 15.02 miles long.
