Secondary State Highway 1E

SSH 1E was added back to the state highway system in 1937. Before 1934 this route had been part of State Road 1 the Pacific Highway (US 99). Around 1934 US 99 was rerouted via a more direct alignment between the Arlington area and Conway. SSH 1 E began at Jct PSH 1 (US 99) at Conway and headed south to East Stanwood (now part of the City of Stanwood), then southeast to Jct PSH 1 (US 99), then east to Jct SSH 1A at Stanwood.

In 1957, SSH 1E was extended easterly from Arlington to Darrington.

SSH 1E became SR 530 when the current state highway numbering system was first posted in 1964.
