SSH 1M was added to the state highway system in 1937. This highway began at Jct PSH 1 (US 99) in Tumwater and headed in a southwesterly direction via Littlerock, ending at Jct PSH 9 in Rochester. In 1957, the Tumwater to Littlerock portion of SSH 1M was dropped from the state highway system in 1957. An existing county road from Jct US 99 (now I-5) near Maytown to Littlerock was added to SSH 1M. SSH 1M was resigned as SR 801 in 1964.
