SSH 2J was added to the state highway system in 1957. This route began at Jct PSH 2 Bothell Branch (now SR 522) in Bothell and headed north, ending at Jct PSH 1 (US 99/I-5) in Everett. From 1937 to 1943 this route had been part of SSH 2A but was not a part of the state highway system from 1943 to 1957. Today, SSH 2J is SR 527.
