SSH 2K was added to the state highway system in 1967, but did not become effective until I-90 was completed in the Snoqualmie Pass area in December 1969. This route followed the old US 10 alignment from I-90 Exit 52 at the West Summit to Exit 54 at Hyak. SSH 2K was never posted as such however. Since December 1969 this route has been posted as SR 906.
