SSH 3G was added to the state highway system in 1969. This route began at Jct PSH 3 (US 195) in Colton and headed southerly and easterly to Jct PSH 3 (then US 410, now US 12) in the Clarkston area. The law creating this highway stated that until the highway was actually constructed on the location adopted by the Highway Commission that no existing county roads would be maintained or improved by the Highway Commission as a temporary route of SSH 3G. This route became SR 193.
