SSH 3H was added to the state highway system in 1937. This route began at Jct PSH 2 (US 10) at Opportunity and headed southerly via Rockford, Fairfield, Latah, and Tekoa, ending at Jct PSH 3 (now SR 27/SR 271) at Oaksdale. SSH 3H is now part of SR 27.
A branch of SSH 3H began at a junction with the trunk of SSH 3H in Tekoa and headed northeasterly to the Idaho state line. This branch is now SR 274.
