SSH 8C was added to the state highway system in 1937. This route began at Jct PSH 8 (US 830) near Carson and headed northwesterly along the Wind River to the Columbia (now Gifford Pinchot) National Forest boundary. SSH 8C was dropped from the state highway system in 1961.
