Secondary State Highway 12B

SSH 12B was added to the state highway system in 1937. This route began at Jct PSH 12 (US 101) at Megler and headed northeasterly to Jct PSH 12 (then US 830, now SR 4) near Naselle. The road did not actually go all the way through for several years after it was designated as a state highway, though. There was a missing gap from Megler to Knapton.

When the Astoria-Megler ferry was replaced by the present bridge in 1966, SSH 12B was extended west about a mile from the ferry landing at Megler to the end of the bridge at Point Ellice. Since January 1964, SSH 11B has been posted as SR 401.
