The Art Of Paintball
Chapter Three: Plan A Counter Move
Once you have decided that you may have one small defect in your game and that you can see all of the flaws in your opponent then you are ready to plan. Planning your counter move is what will break the game wide open. Take all of the time you need to make this stunning move, everyone will stay where they are.
Time is critical on the paintball field. On the speedball course a five man game may only last three minutes. If you take thirty seconds to look things over then the game is going to pass you by. You will be planning to a scenario which has changed by the time you get around to employing your idea.
Planning has to happen before the game is ever played. This plan has to be carefully discussed with the entire team so that it may have a chance to succeed. Meetings between games is the time to plan in detail. Use the time when everyone is reloading and wiping off paint to bounce your ideas off of others.
Try to keep plans simple and be ready for things to change in a big hurry. Plan around your strengths and take advantage of the enemy’s weakness. Keep the odds in your favor and the game will fall apart for your opponent.
