"Get your green on game" - By Mike VanGundy
"Get your green on game"
This was the title for the March 17th game. It was hosted by Dragonsports paintball in Marysville Washington. Three Northwest rookie teams were present for a day of practice before the season gets too busy. From the NWTS were Team Wolverines and War Machine. From the Northwest tour was the Ice Gliders and no show N Controll. Many thanks to the sponsors which helped make this a success. Tippmann, Smart Parts, Redz Gear, Drop Zone Extreme, Diablo, Dragonsports, Splatem sports, and Sunset Mechanical all contributed to these teams to make this season possible.
The day began with some 5 on 5 PanAm rules center flag games on a larger than usual field. This made for some extreme long range shooting. A slight hill side forced the lower team to run a little harder but the bunkers were staggered to offset this. Wolverines dominated this play as they are naturally a defensive oriented team. They would bunker down untill they had a numbers advantage then send in the runners to finish off the opponents. The Ice Gliders with thier Tippmann sponsored Model 98 customs had a problem getting things tuned for the game. The guns had only been out of the box for about an hour befor play began. War Machine was a tough and quiet compettitor. The rec-ball crowd was sparse this day due to the high firepower play happenning. Many thanks to the refs at DragonSports for thier time and patients.
There were a few rec-ball games with as many as ten on each side. These were played either on the practice field or the wooded lower field. During the lunch break there was a contest of one on one. This was limited to the rec-ballers present. The winner, Dan Martin from Marysville, recieved a Diablo Jersey supplied by Drop Zone Extreme Sports. The second place finisher, Bill Bulpett also from Marysville recieved a 14" PMI barrell supplied by Sunset Mechanical and Splatem Sports.
We learned very much from this compettition and would like to thank the people which helped. From Team War Machine there was; Seater, Josh, Ki, and Andy. From Team Wolverines there was; Webb, Junior, PBW, The Head, OM, Jester, Pod Boy, and Lil Bro. For those I missed getting your names thank you and we'll see you again and use your tricks against you.
See you in my sights:
