SLOW DANCE

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.

Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask "How are you?"
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running thru' your head?

You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say "Hi"?

You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away.

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

John 3:16

In the city of Chicago, one cold, dark night, a blizzard was setting in. A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner, the people were in and out of the cold. The little boy was so cold that he wasn't trying to sell many papers. He walked up to a policeman and said, "Mister, you wouldn't happen to know where a poor boy could find a warm place to sleep tonight would you? You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and down the alley and it's awful cold in there, of a night. Sure would be nice to have a warm place to stay."

The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, "You go down the street to that big white house and you knock on the door. When they come out the door you just say John 3:16 and they will let you in.

So he did, he walked up the steps to the door, and knocked on the door and a lady answered. He looked up and said, "John 3:16."

The lady said "Come on in, Son." She took him in and she sat him down in a split bottom rocker in front of a great big old fireplace and she went off. He sat there for a while, and thought to himself "John 3:16....I don't understand it, but it sure makes a cold boy warm."

Later she came back and asked him "Are you hungry?" He said, "Well, just a little. I haven't eaten in a couple of days and I guess I could stand a little bit of food."

The lady took him in the kitchen and sat him down to a table full of wonderful food. He ate and ate until he couldn't eat any more. Then he thought to himself "John 3:16... Boy, I sure don't understand it, but it sure makes a hungry boy full."

She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub filled with warm water and he sat there and soaked for a while. As he soaked, he thought to himself, "John 3:16... I sure don't understand it, but it sure makes a dirty boy clean. You know, I've not had a bath, a real bath, in my whole life. The only bath I ever had was when I stood in front of that big old fire hydrant as they flushed it out."

The lady came in and got him, and took him to a room and tucked him into a big old feather bed and pulled the covers up around his neck and kissed him goodnight and turned out the lights. As he laid in the darkness and looked out the window at the snow coming down on that cold night he thought to himself, "John 3:16... I don't understand it, but it sure makes a tired boy rested."

The next morning she came back up and took him down again to that same big table full of food. After he ate she took him back to that same big old split bottom rocker in front of the fireplace and she took a big old Bible and sat down in front of him and she looked up at and she asked, "Do you understand John 3:16?"

He said, "No, Ma'am, I don't. The first time I ever heard it was last night when the policeman told me to use it."

She opened the Bible to John 3:16 , and she began to explain to him about Jesus. Right there in front of that big old fireplace he gave his heart and life to Jesus. He sat there and thought,"John 3:16. I don't understand it, but it but it sure makes a lost boy feel safe."

You know, I have to confess I don't understand it either, how God would be willing to send His Son to die for me, and how Jesus would agree to do such a thing. I don't understand it either, but it sure does make life worth living.

Author Unknown

John 3:16
16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

PICTURE OF GOD

A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom
of children while they drew. She'd occasionally
walk around to see each child's art work. As she
got to one little girl who was working diligently,
she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied,
"I'm drawing God." The teacher paused and said,
"but no one knows what God looks like." Without
missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing the
girl replied, "They will in a minute."

Life Miracles

A man whispered "God, speak to me" And a meadowlark sang, But the man did not hear.
So the man yelled, "God speak to me!" And the thunder rolled across the sky, But the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said, "God, let me see you".And a star shone brightly, But the man did not notice.
And the man shouted, "God, show me a miracle". And a life was born, But the man did not know.
So the man cried out in despair, "Touch me God and let me know that you are here!" Whereupon God reached down
and touched the man, But the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.

Moral: Don't miss out on a blessing because it isn't packaged the way you expect.

NAIL IN THE FENCE

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper.
His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him
that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer
a nail into the back of the fence. The first day
the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over
the next few weeks, as he learned to control his
anger the number of nails hammered daily gradually
dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to
hold his temper than to drive those nails into the
fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't
lose his temper at all. He told his father about
it and the father suggested that the boy now pull
out one nail for each day that he was able to
hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy
was finally able to tell his father that all the
nails were gone. The father took his son by the
hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have
done well, my son, but look at the holes in the
fence. The fence will never be the same. When you
say things in anger, they leave a scar just like
this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it
out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm
sorry, the wound is still there. Remember my son,
a verbal wound is as bad as a physical one."

"Sunday School Stories"

A Sunday school teacher asked her little children,
as they were on the way to church service,"And why
is it necessary to be quiet in church." One bright
little girl replied, "Because people are sleeping."

Six-year old Angie and her four-year old brother
Joel were sitting together in church.Joel giggled,
sang and talked out loud. Finally, his big sister
had had enough. "You're not supposed to talk out
loud in church. Why? Who's going to stop me?" Joel
asked. Angie pointed to the back of the church
and said, "See those two men standing by the door?
They're hushers."

A ten-year old, under the tutelage of her grandmother,
was becoming quite knowledgeable about the Bible.
Then one day she floored her grandmother by
asking, "Which Virgin was the mother of Jesus?
The Virgin Mary or the King James Virgin?"

A Sunday school class was studying the Ten Commandments.
They were ready to discuss the last one. The
teacher asked if anyone could tell her what it
was. Susie raised her hand, stood tall and quoted,
"Thou shall not take the covers off the neighbor's wife."

A little boy was in a relatives wedding. As he
was coming down the aisle, he would take two
steps, stop, and turn to the crowd. While facing
the crowd, he would put his hands up like claws
and roar. So it went, step, step, ROAR, step,
step,ROAR, all the way down the aisle. As you
can imagine the crowd was near tears by the time
he reached the pulpit. The little boy, however,
was getting more and more distressed from all
the laughing, and was also near tears by the time
he reached the pulpit. When asked what he was
doing, the child sniffed and said, "I was being
The Ring Bear."

One Sunday in a mid west city, a young child was
"acting up" during the morning worship hour.
The parents did their best to maintain some
sense of order in the pew but were losing the
battle. Finally, the father picked the little
fellow up and sternly walked up the aisle on his
way out. Just before reaching the safety of the
foyer, the little one called loudly to the congregation,
"Pray for me! Pray for me!"

And one particular four-year old prayed, "And
forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those
who put trash in our baskets."

A little boy was overheard praying: "Lord,if you
can't make me a better boy, don't worry about it.
I'm having a real good time like I am.

What is the shortest chapter in the Bible? (Answer - Psalms 117)
What is the longest chapter in the Bible? (Answer - Psalms 119)
Which chapter is in the center of the Bible (Answer - Psalms 118)
Fact: There are 594 chapters before Psalms 118
Fact: There are 594 chapters after Psalms 118
Add these numbers up and you get 1188
What is the center verse in the Bible? (Answer - Psalms 118:8)
Does this verse say something significant about God's perfect will for our lives?
The next time someone says they would like to find God's perfect will for
their lives and that they want to be in the center of His will, just send them to the center of His Word!
Psalms 118:8 (NKJV) "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man."
Now isn't that odd how this worked out (or was God in the center of it)?
