THE TELEPHONE COMMITTEE
This committee should start calling names of those who have not voted four to five hours before the polls close - urging people to vote, arranging transportation, if necessary, telling each person how important his vote is, and how elections have been lost by one vote per precinct. Telephoners should keep trying until they reach everyone on their list; i.e. many people do not get home from work until after 5:00 p.m.
The final two hours before the polls close are critical in getting out the vote. The runner should make frequent trips between Precinct Headquarters and the polls with current lists. Telephoners should be kept advised of those people on their lists who have not yet voted.
Everyone involved in getting out the vote should keep at it until every favorable voter has been to the polls.
