LABOR AND ECONOMY

1. Include labor unions in discussions regarding "free trade" treaties and organizations. Treaties and admission to any free trade organizations will also go to the vote of people through referendum. An independent Cascadia will not ratify or sign any "free trade" treaties or blocs that do not take into consideration the issues of the well-being of the workers.

2. Strengthening worker's rights and worker safety laws.

3. Companies and corporations are to sign charters that will guarantee the rights and security of the workers. Any violations reported will be investigated by the Labor Department and charters will be revoked providing any violations are found.

4. The institution of a living wage as opposed to a minimum wage. The wage would be approximately $14.00 US a hour and raises would be fluxuate as the cost of living goes.

5. Institute a 35-hour work week plus 3 to 4 weeks paid vacation or leave.

6. The CNP supports and encourages free enterprise as long as it benefits all involved. The CNP would like to promote the concept of "cooperative capitalism" where the employees run businesses equally. Employees would have equal say in company affairs and decisions as well as stock ownership and profit sharing. The government would offer grants to those who establish such ventures.

7. The CNP also calls for the prohibition of strike replacement workers.

8. In the event of closures due to our policies, the government will establish an emergency aid program to all affected. These programs consist of worker retraining, living wage compensation, and job placement services.

9. People of all races, creeds, and age are entitled to work and have a better life. Nobody needs to be discriminated for these things.

10. Companies should be required to establish apprenticeship programs for those who are out of high school as well as those in need of job retraining.
