NATIVE ISSUES 1. Include in any rewrite or any future state or national constitution an acknowledgement of the past injustices brought on by the European and American settlers on the native peoples of Cascadia.
2. The creation of a Department of Native Affairs that will address the needs and issues of all tribes. The department would be run and staffed by all natives and the head of it will be of native blood. He/she will be a representative for all of the tribes in their respective states. 3. Drop the name of "Indian Reservations" and declare them as "Tribal Lands". Also, give the Tribal Lands more autonomy within their states making them independent of the counties they are currently located in. 4. The size of Tribal Lands should be increased to a sizeable amount but with the consent and negotiations of all in the surrounding areas of the lands. 5. To encourage private enterprises to establish jobs as well as establishing apprenticeships and job training to the Tribal Lands. Casinos and selling cigarettes alone will not cut it as far as boosting the economy. 6. To improve conditions, modernize schools, and school equipment. Schools in the tribes need more computers and better facilities for the youth to prepare them for the future. 7. The promotion of Cascadia's native culture domestically and worldwide. 8. All fishing and land use management should be given to the respective Tribal Councils as part of their autonomy. These are their lands and they must have the right to govern it as they see fit. 9. To promote and encourage the revival of the native languages, customs, and cultures in all aspects of life particularly in media and education. 10. Each tribe should have a representative in state legislative bodies as well as a representative in a future Federal Assembly for Cascadia. 11. The CNP supports full recognition of all tribes in Washington and Oregon that the federal government in Washington, D.C. refuses to recognize.
