de Braiose, William IV (b. , d. 1210)
Note: "Jun." jure uxoris Lord of Buckingham, starved to death with his mother by order of King John 1210, in the dungeon of either Corfe or Windsor Castle. He held Buckingham Manor until his death (CP 1:22; VCH Bucks 3:480; DWB 2:1138; Lipscomb, Bucks 1:202). He was "described as junior to distinguish him from his more celebrated father and namesake, a rebel baron of King John. Dugdale's account of this family is confused" (VCH, Bucks cit.). R. J. There is a numbered section for each patriarch, and citations are given by these sections.) gives several contradictory accounts of Edwin's parentage, all from late manuscripts, so his parentage should be regarded as unknown. The attempt of David H. Kelley (in "Edwin of Tegeingl", The American Genealogist 46 (1970), 75-80) to identify him with Edwin of Mercia is unconvincing.]
