Leo arrived later than the rest of the Hancock's, due to a
mistake that meant he was left behind. He became a bit of a tearaway, but
got on well with sister Emily, and helped her rescue her doll from a
collector. However, the pair also had many arguments, one which led to Emily
running away from home. He got into trouble when he was discovered to have
been selling essays to other students at school. Just after Evan and Maggie
were getting over this, they found out that Leo had been getting bullied.
however, Leo had other friends out of school, with whom he break-dance. Evan
was not happy about Leo's new, older friends and banned Leo from seeing
them, but Leo proceeded to sneak out to breakdance. Matt talked Evan round
for Leo, and Evan was proud of his sons talent, but he drew the line when
Leo wanted to go to Queensland for a competition with his break-dancing
crew. Leo intended to go without permission, but didn't get on the bus. This
brought Leo and evan slowly closer together. Leo was worried about Matt when
he landed himself in trouble with the law after a drag racing accident. Due
to the cost of Matt's lawyer, the Hancock's were forced to sell the house
and move away.

Leo was supposed to move in on the same day as his parents and younger
sister, but, of course, he managed to disappear. He wound up in the pub, and
this was the beginning of life in Ramsay Street for the 12 year old
tearaway. Since arriving, he has been involved in a few scams. He helped
Emily to rescue her doll from Collector Bob, and he also caused his sister
to run away from home. His most recent problem had his parents stumped. He
was up late every night, spending money he apparently didn't have, and
having secret chats to kids at school. Evan and Maggie jumped to the
conclusion that he was dealing or taking drugs. Leo was horrified at this,
but managed to avoid further questions. However, as Susan Kennedy found out
that Leo was writing and selling essays to his fellow pupils, his family
were left wondering what he needed this money for. Having followed Leo, Matt
learned the truth. Leo was achieving his dream and being taught to
break-dance. This has led to a few problems, particularly bullying at school,
but Leo couldn't be happier, despite the conflict at home....

Leo just
wants to be an ordinary kid but he finds it hard to melt into the crowd. For
one thing his dad is a teacher at his school and this makes the other kids
nervous about being friends with Leo. As well as this Leo is very smart. He
almost became a chess champion until he was beaten by a 9 year old master.
Then he turned his attention to break dancing and with a lot of practice,
Leo is actually pretty good at this. Leo is also carrying A burden of guilt
over the tragic death of his little sister. When he was 6 Leo left the
swimming pool gate open and the little 2 year old fell in and drowned. These
memories were revived when little Lolly almost drowned in the pool at number
30. |
