Minna-san, this is how it happened... A night ago, I decided to read every single chapter of the Smite series, from beginning to end. I felt very confident with "Smite the player", despite the non-happy ending for SakuraXOogami fans. However, "Smite the Best Man" fixed that problem, in what has become my favorite st-work thus far. (All those who agree that "Smite the Best Man" is the best of the series, say "YEA!!"). On the other hand, "Smite the Enemy" had been the opposite. Reading the ending, I thought 'WHAT WAS I THINKING??!'. Not only did it lack the "Smite" flavor, but it ended with a wedding (??!). So you can see, I felt very disappointed in myself for writing such a sappy ending just to satisfy the tensed up readers who wanted it to end that way (I'm talking to those who sent me those scary emails!). Oh, I apologize to those who actually liked the sappy ending, as well as the readers I let down. I let down myself too. And so, the solution I came up to this problem with was to throw this ending out the window.
WAIT!! WAIT!! WAIT!! Before you read this, there are some BIG changes...
-First of all, no car accidents. I thought it was very unlikely for Sakura to survive that.
- No action-filled chase scene (except a romp around the kitchen).
-Less seriousness & drama, more silliness (my specialty)
-Less kissing or mushy love scenes!! (practically nothing in the final episode!) I think this series had TOO MUCH of it & I'm going to go back and see if I can mellow it out.
-No more jumping into the future; I enjoy the incertainty. It's more fun to wonder about it, than know.
-More interaction between Oogami & Kaede. I admit, after listening to enough duets & seeing all the hints, I can't ignore anymore.
-I decided Erica won't fall in love with a Priest. That's just too weird. She should be a good nun - a funny and cute nun, ne?
-more open ended resolution between Orihime & Takeshi (as well as other couples of the series).
-no big catfight between Sakura & Sumire. I had wanted to keep this scene, but it had no longer a place and besides I already did it in "Smite the Player".
-less tolerance of Oogami (this is the whole point of SMITE)
-NO WEDDINGS!! (with the exception of "Smite the best man"
I actually feel satisfied with this, so I don't plan on changing ever again. So, if you enjoyed the first ending or if you don't remember it, please email me.
