This is our 25th anniversary 1990 Mustang. My girlfriend and I bought the car in 95 with 20k original miles. It has been our daily driver and show car for the last several years. It has all the option that the GT came with, plus some modifications. A few years back we quipped it with GT-40 heads and a K&N cold air induction system. We have also included a cat back system with flowtech terminator mufflers (borlja is coming soon), Accel super coil, Taylor racing wires and advanced the timing up 4 degrees. The car has fords AOD transmission, we chose it for its consistency on the track, but installed a shift kit to help eliminate the lag between shifts.
Cobra “R” last January I got my hands on these 17x9 cobra Rims. Since they were five lug and the mustang had 4 lug, I had to convert it over. I switch the front rotor for new cross-drilled rotor of an 82-84 Lincoln Continental with non-ABS. For the rear I use the axle out of an 89 ranger. You need the rear left hand side only (as the left and right are different lengths) so you need to find two donor rangers, don’t forget to grab the drums also. Next, pull the diff cover slide the old axles out and put the new ones in, nice and easy. This got me my 5 lug but my rear disc is conversion should be on soon. Then I had to put new tires on the rims (ouch). They are 245/45R17 on all four corners, BFGoodrich Comp. Z tires.
This is just a good shot. I don’t have the GT lights on it anymore. I switched to the cleaner looking LX lights, along with a new 6-piece headlight assembly and the new HELLA fog lamps.
That’s it for this car (R.I.P0 6-08-01). My girlfriend was sitting at a red light when some idiot rammed the car doing over 50MPH. He even admitted he was looking at something else and didn’t see anyone stopped; he didn’t even have time to hit his brakes. Everything on the inside shattered the trans shifter was shoved in the dash, which tore up the console. The impacted forced the mustang under the van in front of it and blew the sunroof 20 feet down the road. That god my girlfriend’s injuries aren’t worst than they are she had to crawl out of the window to get out.
