Normal svo valve cover (minus paint)
The stock intake manifolds rise high enough to clear the valve cover in all years of the svo production 84-86. However, in the The case of useing the Manifolds off An 87-88 Turbo Coupe we run into clearance problems as the manifolds are shorter.
Turbo Coupe Cover
This is what was used on the Yurbo Coupes to help with the clearance issues of the throttle body. the valve cover has a groove in the center of it for the Tbody.
Solutions
In order to use the stock valve cover on the svo and use the better intakes of the Turbo Coupe there are three options.
Option 1. Find and use the lower intake manifold out of an 86 Svo, Merkur or Turbo Coupe. The lower is a taller peice than its replacements. This also alwoys the use of the 86 fuel rail which fits perfect with the 84-85 svos. Then the upper of an 87-88 TC will fit and clear the valve cover.
Option 2. Create a spacer. The spacer I made is out of 1/2 inch burchwood, cut exactly to the gasket(intakes ported to gaskets). This allows the use of bothe the upper and lower intakes off an 87-88 Tc to be used but, now the fuel rail for the lower 87-88 is different from the fuel rail used on the svo so more modifications will need to be made beyond the spacer for everything to work.
Option 3. Rotate the upper. Turn it so you do not have to go in the direction of the valve cover.( only do incase of front mount intercooler)
