- The Constitutional proposal six years old

When will Prince Leonard and his Cabinet finalise their work on the Constitution proposal?
On the 12th May 1997 the Legislation Committee of the Hutt River Province Principality handed over to the Cabinet their proposal for a Constitution. Six years after the proposal is still under review by the Cabinet.

But the proposal is not without effect. In a decree of 15th November 1997 it is stated that

“Proposals will be legally binding on all nationals of the Hutt River Province Principality until the Cabinet revise, amend or repeal the proposal.”

In other words the proposal is in force as long as it is not in conflict with the bill of rights. It has some sort of semi-constitutional status at present.

Hopefully the Constitution will be properly adopted in the nearest future.
