Q & A's

"The Questions & The Answers"

How much does it cost to be on this team?
The cost to join Pacific Ballroom Dance Club is $100.00 per semester for dues and costume fund, payable when you register. If there is a problem with paying the full amount when you register please talk to Cherie or Paul as soon as possible.

What should I wear to practice?
Men
need nice jeans or slacks, and shoes, even to practice in are important. Bring dress shoes, or shoes with a thin composite or a leather sole. Girls can practice in nice jeans or a skirt and you want to find a leather sandal or pump with at least a little bit of heel.

Do I need to come to every practice?
This is a team, and each person will come to have a role or a position to fill. All the other team members depend on you to be at practices on time and ready to dance. We take roll each practice and your attendance can be a factor in who gets to perform.

What if I have a conflict with a practice or performance?
We understand that you may have a life outside of dance, so if you do have a conflict please let Cherie or Paul know as soon as possible so an alternate can be assigned and trained to fill your spot.

What do I need to provide myself for costuming?
Men
need black dress/dance shoes, black socks, white socks, black slacks, a black long-sleeved shirt, and a white long-sleeved shirt.
Girls need black dance pumps or sandals or the tan (nude) dance sandals, white Keds, white bobby sox, black dance shorts, white dance shorts, dress shields. Other items on an individual basis.

Can my partner and I practice at times other than team practices?
DanceArt has extended an invitation to each of the kids in the dance club to audit any of the swing, latin or ballroom classes being taught. Please talk to Cherie or Paul if you are interested.

Can my friends or parents come to watch practices?
We have only a limited amount of practice and team time. They are welcome if they are there to support and not distract you. Please introduce them to Cherie and Paul so we know who is in the building.

Can I learn more routines besides the one I’m assigned to? How?
We would love to teach you as much as you want to learn. We will arrange special practices or times to teach steps and skills to dances routines other than what we are currently teaching.

What are the house rules for the cafeteria at SJH, or Pacific Ballroom where we practice?
All office, kitchen and any areas of the building besides the entry, and dance floor area are "Off Limits." You are not to bring food or drinks onto the dance floor. Please make sure you take coats, keys, shoes, books, litter and any "extras" with you when you leave. This is a community use building and lost items will not still be there the next week. Basically, if there is any question, please clear it with Paul or Cherie before you do it.
