Give
My Life for Him?

I don't know where it came from but there is a sense of bravery or
courage inside me.
The idea of dying for a good cause has always been appealing to me.
Being a Christian martyr seemed a heroic way to die.
I've always thought about what I'd do if I was faced with my
execution for being a follower of Jesus Christ. Being able to
publicly declare my faith in Him and then humbly give my life for Him
had been a dream of mine. I thought of how I would endure any pain
and steadfastly hold onto the truths that I stand for. There was no
doubt in my mind that I could die in this manner without a second
thought or a single faltering step in my faith.
So far in my life I have never been faced with a situation in which
my life was threatened in such a way.
I have endured nearly no persecution at all for my faith. The extent
of my persecution has been a few harsh words from fellow classmates.
Yet I have fallen so many times. I have lost my faith and questioned
God after many small things went wrong in my life.
So many times I have had opportunities to witness to someone and most
of those times I was too afraid to say anything.
I don't know now if I would die for Jesus. I would hope so but
considering that I haven't been able to stand up for Him in
conversations with my friends, I have strong doubts.
Maybe when I believe in Jesus, I am supposed to give not only my
death but my life as well.
Giving my life for Him means living it for Him. Maybe the small
trials I go through on a daily basis are a greater test of my faith
than anything.
Dying for Him may be the easy way out, the real question is:
Can I LIVE for Him?
"...If anyone would come after Me,
he must deny himself
and take up his cross
and follow Me." Matthew 16:24
