In the beginning there were no drag strips. Well that was the case here anyhow.
Of course there was the back road 1/4miles but the police didn't like that to much
and there was no where for anyone to go to drag race safely and under controlled conditions.

Now this was quite disappointing as Warwick is home to many devoted rev heads which often
made the long trek to Willowbank. On top of that they were often harassed by the local constabulary.
See young clowns would run a muck on the streets and the police would get wind of this, coming
looking for the hottest cars out and about and bingo, "Show us ya licence Sonny".

Which brings me to the first lot of photo's. A few smart cookies put there revved up heads
together and started the Warwick District Drag Racing Assoc. and thought, lets have a legal
on street drag race meet to to test the interest. Well as it turned out the interest well there
and this was a huge success as streeters came from far and wide to race. Below are a few of the
cars that raced during the infant stage of the club.

EAST STREET DRAGS

Then after many years of hard work, lots of donations both time and
materials, came the Warwick Dragways 1/8 mile drag strip. The many
delays due to money, rain, labour was a thorn in the side of the club as
everyone new the potential of the track. So with no further a due, I give
you all the action of Warwick Dragway.
